Edwina Anne Murph's Obituary
Surrounded by her loving family, Edwina Anne Murph was welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on December 28, 2016, after a short battle with cancer.
Edwina was born on December 1, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Richard Samuel and Grace Mary Fredrick. Shortly after, the family moved to Marshall, Texas where Edwina grew up. While attending Marshall High School, she met the love of her life and soul mate, Marvin Edward Murph. After graduating in 1957 Edwina attended Weaver Airline School in Kansas City, Missouri.
In October 1959 Edwina and Marvin secured their deep devotion to one another and were married. They moved to Missouri to begin their life together. It was there that Edwina became a mother with the birth of their two children, Mark and Marlene. Both were born in Cape Girardeau. Soon after the family moved back to East Texas.
Edwina was an active member of Greggton United Methodist Church for more than 36 years which was the second love of her life. She has graciously devoted countless hours to serving others through various committees in her church and several programs including Longview Interfaith Hospitality Network (LIHN) and Meals on Wheels, just to name a few. Her Sunday School Class, the Welmaker/Joy class has been front and center in Edwina's life for the past 36 years. She routinely expressed a deep love and admiration for her church family and friends.
Edwina is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Grace Mary Fredrick. Those left behind to cherish her beautiful memories are her loving husband of 57 years, Marvin, along with their son Mark and Laura Murph of Dallas, TX, daughter Marlene and Karl Killian of the Woodlands, Texas; brother Richard and Jeannette Fredrick of Longview, Texas and four grandchildren, Amanda Murph, Michael Murph, Kathryn Killian and Madalyn Killian.
