Edwin Earl Holbrook's Obituary
Funeral services for Edwin Earl Holbrook, 61, of Longview, will be 12 Noon Thursday in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, Longview, with Reverend Phil Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Holbrook went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday morning, Feb. 13, at his residence. A native of Shelby County, Indiana, he was born March 9, 1943 to Paul ?Pete? and Lucille ?Sally? Robbins Holbrook, who preceded him in death. Mr. Holbrook graduated from Indiana University with an accounting degree. After college, Ed was an accountant for Chrysler Corporation for several years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and served in the reserves for 4 years in Columbus, Indiana. During this time his unit was deployed to Vietnam in December of 1967, where he served 18 months active duty. Ed and his wife moved to Longview in 1976 where they opened the Waffle Shoppe at 707 W. Marshall. As an entrepreneur in the restaurant business, he also owned King Edward?s, Ed Earl?s Restaurant and Bentley?s Comedy Club. Ed served on the Kidney Foundation for several years. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Pine Tree Lodge 1396, Scottish Rites Body, Sharon Temple and was past director of Jesters Court 168. Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He spent his spare time with his family and grandson Trenton. He will be dearly missed and always loved.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Holbrook. He is survived by his wife: Dean Holbrook of Longview, daughter: Erin Smith and husband Michael of Longview, brothers: Mike Holbrook and wife Carole of Decatur, Ill., Jim Bright and wife Michelle of Naples, Fla., and Jon Holbrook and wife Trudi of Greenwood, In., sisters: Phyllis Lutes and husband Don of Shelbyville, In., and Donna Shultz and husband Larry of Columbus, IN., Grandson: Trenton Smith of Longview and step granddaughter: Layla Smith of Longview. Number of Nieces and nephews. Pall bearers will be Mike Holbrook, Jon Holbrook, Jim Bright, Bill Grimes, Chuck Gregory and Billie Scott. Honorary Pall bearers will be the Jesters of Court 168.
