Edwin E Jordan, Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral services for Edwin E. ?Gene? Jordan, Sr., 80, of Longview will be 10 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Dewayne Beaty and Rev. Harlan Hall officiating under direction of Rader Funeral Home. Private family burial will be at Memory Park Cemetery.
Mr. Jordan went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 19, 2005 at his home. He was born May 4, 1925 in Kilgore, Texas.
Gene moved to Longview in 1947 after marrying his wife of 57 and 1/2 years, Margaret Ware Jordan. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, and friend to many in Longview. He was the owner of Custom Kitchens and was a longtime active member and Deacon of First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Pacific during World War II. He was proud of his service to his country and one of his most memorable stories was being on guard duty and watching the Enola Gay bomber take off on its way to bomb Japan.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Cindy Jordan; grandsons Chris and Taylor Jordan; Sisters and brothers-in-law: Louise and James Richey, and Nell and Arvin Crawford; Brother and sister-in-law Billy Joe and Charlene Jordan; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 from 5 until 7 PM.
