Edward William McBride's Obituary
Edward William McBride, Sr. was born June 23, 1928 in Haskell, Oklahoma and passed away Saturday April 14, 2007 at his residence. Ed grew up during the depression and served his country in the Navy during World War ll. He met Ellen Newman after the war and was married. He worked oil fields through out the South before moving to California. After his return from California, they started McBride Floors and continued to operate the floor covering company for 30 years. Ed began building houses in the late 1960?s and by the mid?seventies was instrumental in developing and designing homes and subdivisions in Longview, Spring Hill and Marshall. Even as his health declined , he made a point to attend trustee meetings at the Eagles Lodge and played dominoes each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at the Elks Lodge.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents A.D. and Eddice McBride, sister, Mary Lee Addie, sister, Ruth Hill, brother, Charles McBride and son Clarence Clyde McBride.
Ed is survived by his brother Lonnie McBride and sister, June Clark; his children James David McBride and his wife Kristi; daughter, Eddice Skinner and her husband Mike; sons, Edward McBride, Jr.; Jerrel McBride and his wife Debra. ?Big Ed? will be missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation is at Rader Funeral Home, Longview April 17 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services are April 18 at 10 am at Rader Funeral Home, Longview with Dennis Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Kilgore City Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Pallbearers are his grandsons Todd and Curt Skinner, David Allen McBride, Joe Ed McBride, Brinson Burks and friend Heath Richardson. Honorary pallbearers is Mark Jordan.
