Edward H. "Buzz: Seifert III's Obituary
Edward H. (Buzz) Seifert III was born in Galesburg, Illinois July 3, 1943 to Mary Frances Cooper and Edward H. Seifert Jr. He departed this world for a new adventure on November 29, 2019.
Edward graduated from Cameron, Missouri high school and earned a Bachelor in Education and an Education Specialist Degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. He also earned a Master’s Degree in School Administration from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. He completed his education with a Doctorate in City School Administration from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1976.
He started his professional career in Stewartsville, Missouri. He taught, coached and was an administrator in the South Harrison School District prior to becoming Superintendent of the Union Star school district, all in Missouri. After earning his Doctorate he became Principal of Fort Zumwalt High School in O’Fallon, Missouri. The next twenty years was spent at Southwest Texas State University (Texas State) as an assistant professor, associate professor, professor, department head, assistant and associate Dean. Ed then moved to Texas A&M-Commerce where he served as a professor, Department Head, assistant Dean and Interim Dean of the College of Education. Ed authored more than 100 journal articles, 4 chapters in books, and he and colleagues wrote four textbooks. He served on numerous committees at the local, state and national levels. Upon retirement in 2003 the Texas A&M University System awarded him the title Professor Emeritus in Educational Administration.
Ed is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Judith Seifert: by three daughters, Audra Hoss (Mike) of O’Fallon, Missouri, Elizabeth Sierra (Victor) of New Braunfels, Texas, and Rebecca Fischbeck (Alan) of Forney, Texas,10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and three brothers Phil, Eric, and Scott Seifert He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Tuggle.
A service will be held at Christ Church Episcopal, South 15747 Old Jacksonville Road, Tyler on Friday, December 6th at 3:00 PM. Edward’s remains will be interred in St. Charles Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, Missouri. Life is to be celebrated, so go forth and celebrate life, knowing that death is the beginning of a new adventure.
