Edward Oliver ''Rusty'' Russell, III
Funeral services for Edward Oliver ''Rusty'' Russell, III, 40, of Longview, will be 2 PM Wednesday at the First Christian Church with Rev. Phil Jones officiating with burial following at Rosewood Park under direction of Rader Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM.
He was born May 11, 1962 in Dallas, Texas and died Saturday, June 1, 2002 in Longview. He was a lifetime Longview resident.
Mr. Russell was part owner, dealer principal and third generation operator of Gorman McCracken Volkswagen Mazda, which was established in 1961 as Gorman Motors, Inc. by his great uncle Clarence McCracken and later joined by his grandfather James F. Gorman. Rusty?s father Ed managed the business from 1971 until his retirement.
Rusty was a member of First Christian Church, where he was a sponsor and Sunday School teacher for the youth group, Chi Rho. He was active in many areas of the church.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Delta Fishing Club. Professional memberships include the Longview New Car Dealers Association, the National Auto Dealers Association, the Texas Auto Dealers Association and a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts. He was on the East Texas Advisory Board of the National Benevolence Association. He was a Heritage member of Longfellows, where his daughter was presented this year as a junior attendant.
He is survived by his wife, Jana Meyers Russell; Son, Ryan Oliver Russell; Daughter, Ruth Anne Russell; Parents, Edward Oliver, Jr. and Kathlyn Howe Gorman Russell of Longview; Grandmother, Ruth Maurine Howe Gorman of Longview; Sister, Kimberly Russell Turner and husband, David and their daughters, Gorman Elisabeth Brown, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Turner, Brittany Nicole Turner, and Heather Alyssa Turner all of Matthews, NC.; Aunt, Sharon Gorman Gredler and husband, Erich of Biedermannsdorf, Austria and their children, Jim and Jenny. Mother-in-law, Edna Meyers Watson of Lufkin; Sister-in-law, Stephanie Meyers King and husband, Dwight and their daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth King all of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Oliver Russell, Sr. and wife, Catherine Hill Russell and grandfather, James Francis Gorman.
