Edward J. Mooney's Obituary
Edward J. ?Ted? Mooney , 87, 0f Longview was born December 8, 1915 at Minden, West Virginia to English emigrants, Edward and Lily Brown Mooney. He passed away Sunday, December 7, 2003 at a Longview nursing center one day shy of his 88th birthday.
He graduated from the University of West Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. A former resident of Kingsport, Tennessee, he was transferred by Tennessee Eastman Company to Longview in 1951. In 1981, Mr. Mooney retired from Texas Eastman where he was a member of middle management in the capacity of OXO Division Superintendent.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview where he served as Junior and Senior Warden and was a Sunday School teacher. He was past president of the Longview Rotary Club, as well as holding several district positions and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Mooney was also a past president of Pinecrest Country Club in addition to serving on many committees. He was a member of the Longview Symphony, a charter member of Longfellows and a Board Member, and was an Eagle Scout with three Palms.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Mae Mooney of Longview; daughter, Margaret Mooney of Dallas; a son, Ted Mooney, Jr. and his wife Mary Martha of Chicago; grandchildren: Elizabeth Mooney of San Francisco and Edward Mooney, III of Durango, Colorado; great grandchildren: Grayson and Spencer Mooney of Durango, Colorado; and brother, Jack Mooney of Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 10AM Thursday, December 11th at Trinity Episcopal Church with Father Kevin Wittmayer officiating. Private interment services will follow. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd. Wednesday evening 6 to 8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, 3613 S.
