Edward Marion Holley's Obituary
Edward “Ed” Holley, 91, of Henderson passed away at his home on April 23, 2025. Ed lived a life marked by service to his country and community. Born the oldest son of Vanoy and Lilla Holley, Ed grew up with strong values that shaped the man he would become. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Maxine Bratton and together they shared 45 years of love and adventure.
A retired U.S. Air Force pilot of 24 years, Ed traveled the world proudly serving his country with courage and distinction. After retiring from the military, he returned to his hometown and continued to serve others as the mayor of Maud, Texas. For many years his integrity and passion for improving the lives of others left a lasting impact on the town.
When he retired from public service, he moved to Lake Cherokee where he found peace in being by the water, fishing, visiting with neighbors, and watching the wildlife.
He is survived by one son, Scott (Eva Marie) of Wyoming, two daughters, Alisa Kulak of White Oak and Julie Luke of Diana. Ed was a proud pawpaw to six grandchildren: Amanda Easterling (David), Faith Patel (Anshu), Harrison Luke (Melissa), Erinn Deem (Chris) and Ryan Kulak (Jennifer). He also leaves behind eight beloved great-grandchildren: Braylon, Ethan, Noah, John-Parker, Caroline, Aiden, Emmie and Alaina. He is also survived by one brother, Lynn Holley, and two sisters, Myra White (Wade), and Gayle Thompson, and numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife, and his granddaughter Katie Morgan Kulak.
He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be at Rader Funeral Home of Longview on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 5-7pm. A military graveside service will be held at Center Ridge Cemetery in Maud, TX on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 am.
