Edward Bruner Crain's Obituary
Edward Bruner ?E.B.? Crain, born DeFuniak Springs, Florida on October 23, 1917 to Bluford Walter Crain and Ethel Smith Crain, passed away on October 19, 2004 in Longview, Texas. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Bluford Walter Crain, Jr., all of Longview, and brother-in-law, C.W.W. ?Tex? Cook of Austin. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Katharine ?Kata? Edwards Crain of Longview; son, Edward Bruner Crain, Jr. and wife Catherine of Houston; daughter Katharine Crain Spears and husband Robert of Dallas; sister Frances Crain Cook of Austin; grandchildren Edward Bruner Crain III, Davis Paddock Crain, Henry Eugene Crain, Robert Raymond Spears III and Ellen Elizabeth Spears; sister-in-law Ann Lacy Crain of Longview; brother-in-law Berry H. Edwards and wife Helen of El Paso; nephew David W. Cook and wife Sherry of Arlington, Virginia; niece Ann Cook Cole of Arlington, Virginia; niece Ann Lacy Crain and husband Joseph L. Galloway of Houston; nephew B. Walter Crain III and wife Mary of Houston; nephew Rogers L. Crain and wife Kelty of Houston; niece Chandra Edwards and nephews Conon and Devon Edwards of El Paso; first cousin and dear friend Claire Smith Foster of Longview. He is survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He attended Kemper Military Academy in Boonville, Missouri and graduated from Longview High School, where he was president of the student body. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a B.B.A. and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He maintained his many Kappa Sigma friendships for the remainder of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and began his business career in Houston, where he lived for 15 years, becoming a homebuilder, then moving to Longview. He was a member of and active in various social and civic organizations throughout his life. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a great proponent for the City of Longview and Gregg County, Texas.

After a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, October 22, 2004 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview, Texas under direction of Rader Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greater Hospice of Texas, 1905 W. Loop 281, Longview, Texas 75604, the Gregg County Historical Foundation, 214 North Fredonia, Longview, Texas 75601, or the charity of your choice.
