Edward "Ed" Black's Obituary
Funeral services for James Edward “Ed” Black, age 71 of Laneville, will be held Tuesday February 6, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, burial will follow in the Laneville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6pm until 8pm Monday night at the Funeral Home.
Ed was born August 15, 1946 in Rusk, Texas to Margaret and Arthur Black. He was a very active member of the Apostolic Gospel Lighthouse Church. Ed worked as lineman’s helper for 6-B Construction until he became ill.
He loved spending time with his family, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was always there to lend a hand or advise his children, and grandchildren no matter what the project was.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Gloria, Debbie, and Evelyn, brother Kenny and a son Eddy.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years Sheila Black, daughters Melissa Cunningham and husband Charles, Laura Black-Jordan and husband Don, son Michael Black and wife Melanie. Grandchildren include Jay Smith and wife Samantha, Jes Alsup and wife Stormy, C. J.Cunningham, Sascha Ford, , Courtney Ford and fiancé Jacobs Sparks, Rheanna and Raschelle Jordan, Lance Black, Joshua Cooper, Sarah Barnett and husband Jarrett, and Kent Pickle and wife Marybeth.
Great Grandchildre include Aadin, MaKenzie, and Noah Alsup, Casey, Cayden, and Caleb Smith, Harlon and Holton Barnett, and Paisley Cooper.
Siblings include Connie Draper, Linda Denny, and husband James, Sue Langston and Husband Robert, William Black and wife Ana, and Arthur Black and wife Sharion. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Sascha Ford, Jacob Sparks, Don Jordan, Randy Buchanan,
Jay Smith, James Alsup, Joshua Cooper, and Lance Black.
