Edith Smith Welch's Obituary
Edith Ray Smith Farley Welch met family and friends at the gate of Heaven, April 28, 2015. Aunt Edith celebrated her 93rd birthday on February 28, 2015 with family and friends at Autumn Leaves. She was born February 28, 1922 in Rusk County. She lived all her life in Rusk County calling Pine Hill, TX her home. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, and was a graduate of Henderson High School and McNee Business College.
IN 1943 she went to work at Sears Roebuck and Co’s, Henderson Store, as a switch board operator. She progressed to inventory control manager then to sales. In 1967 she became the assistant manager, where she remained until she retired, December 31, 1986.
Mrs. Welch is survived by her niece Jean Moore, and husband Leon. Great niece Tina Springfield, and husband Todd, and great nephew Charles Moore, and wife Amy.
She was proceded in death by Parents J.W.D. and Eura Smith, brother Aubrey Smith, and wife Marie, husbands T.J. Farley and Henry Welch.
Memorial Services will be held Friday May 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynn Loe officiating. Private family committal services will take place at Lakewood Memorial Park. There will be an informal visitation and viewing from 10:00 AM Thursday until 5:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul's United Methodist church 2212 US Hwy. 79S. Henderson, Texas 75654
