Memorial services for Edgar W. Blitch, III, 73, of Lake Cherokee, TX will be held at a later date. He passed away, Friday, October 23, 2009, in a Longview hospital. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
Mr. Blitch was born January 5, 1936 in Port Arthur, TX to Edgar W., Jr. and Maude Blitch. He grew up in Port Arthur and was a graduate of Texas A&M, where he was in the Corp of Cadets. He enlisted in the U. S. Army after graduating from college and retired as a Major and served in Vietnam, receiving the Bronze Star. After retirement from the Army, he continued his education and received his masters degree. He was an educator and a retired high school principal for the Beckville I.S.D. He was a member of the Cherokee Country Golf Club and the First Christian Church of Port Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Patti Blitch.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melba Blitch of Lake Cherokee; son, Martin ?Bubba? Blitch and wife Nancy of Port Arthur; daughters, Beth Routzon and husband Ron of Houston, Peggy Prosperie and husband Kenneth of Bridge City, TX, Susan Zane and husband David of Austin, Deborah Woodson and husband Carl of Humble, and Linda Prosperie of Austin; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
