Edgar Trejo's Obituary
Edgar Trejo, beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend and soccer coach passed away far too soon on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, following a three-year battle with neuroendocrine cancer. He fought bravely throughout his illness and was a constant inspiration to the wide community of friends he built as a leader in the East Texas youth soccer community.
Born on June 18, 1986, to Faustino and Reyna Trejo, Edgar was adored by his parents as the family’s eldest son and big brother to Cesar and Jimmy. Growing up in San Angelo, Edgar was charming, effortlessly intelligent and brutally honest. His father nicknamed the family home “United Nations” because anyone and everyone was welcomed to gather there and encouraged to join a game of pick-up basketball. As a loyal Michael Jordan fan, Edgar treasured his vast Jordan shoe collection and dressed as his idol when given the opportunity.
Following his graduation from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Edgar married Paola Karina Flores, and they made their home in Longview as Edgar began work as a chemical engineer with Texas Eastman. Paola, affectionately known as Mrs. Coach, was Edgar’s true teammate and steadfast supporter.
The Trejo family quickly grew as the couple welcomed daughters Olivia Leean and Sophia Nayeli. The epitome of a girl dad, Edgar dove wholeheartedly into his girls’ activities and entertained their every whim. Always with Mrs. Coach by his side, Edgar became passionate about learning the game of soccer while coaching his daughters and their friends. His leadership and vision led to the founding of East Texas United Soccer Club in the fall of 2021. Serving both boys and girls, the club has grown to include 25 teams benefitting children across our region. Coach Edgar’s joy for the game and generosity for others will leave a lasting legacy for hundreds of East Texas families.
Celebration of life services for Edgar Trejo will be Monday, September 8 at 4:00pm in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. A reception will immediately follow at Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 3800 Judson Road. The family requests attendees wear blue attire, rather than black, to support the celebration of this incredible man’s life.
For those wishing to further honor Edgar’s memory, please consider a donation to the Edgar Trejo Memorial Fund. Donations can be made payable to Paola Trejo (account administrator) at Austin Bank and will be used to fund need-based scholarships for children to participate in youth club soccer through East Texas United Soccer Club.
