Edgar M. "Ed" Mims, of Longview, went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2009. Ed was born to Horace and Pearl Mims in Harleton, TX on Jan. 14th, 1929. He was a proud graduate of Texas A&M. He was a second Lt. in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. Ed retired from Texas Eastman Co. after 42 years of service. He also served as a Mason for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Eddie Mims. He is survived by Bennie Mims, his wife of 31 years; daughter Joan Mims of Grand Prairie; daughter Julie Parks and husband Will Parks of Tyler; grandchildren: Madison, Jenna, Joe and Drew. The family will receive guests from 6-8 P.M. on Friday May 29 at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30th at noon at Rader Funeral Home, with Scott Schulik presiding. Ed will be buried at Center Cemetery in Harleton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Mobberly Baptist Church building fund or the charity of your choice.
