Edd Thomas' Obituary
Funeral services for Edd Thomas, 78, of Longview, will be 2 PM Monday, November 14, 2005 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., with The Reverend Kevin Wittmayer officiating. Interment will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas died Thursday, November 10, 2005 at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1927 in Longview to George and Victoria Thomas and lived here all of his life. He was a long time grocer and was co-owner of Food City which operated until 1972 after which Eckerd Drug leased the building and property. Edd was a graduate of Longview High School where he played football in which he was an all district tackle, and received his BS degree in biology from what is now Texas A & M in Commerce, TX.
Edd was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Corps on Okinawa. Edd was also an avid lover of children and animals.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sam, and is survived by a sister, Selma Naifeh, and brothers, Dr. Tommy Thomas and wife, Ann and Dr. A. G. Thomas, and a number of nieces and nephews.
