Earnest Albert ?Pete? Hillin
Earnest Albert ?Pete? Hillin passed away January 3, 2011 in a Longview hospital. He was born September 6, 1922, in Tatum, TX to Earnest Edward Hillin and Vicki Elizabeth Martin Hillin.
He enlisted in the Air Force in October, 1942, during World War II, and served as an aircraft mechanic until he was medically discharged July 3, 1943. Mr. Hillin was married to Edyra Jean Deaton Hillin on July 12, 1944, and they were married for 66 years. To this union was born two children, Alvie Jean and Dennis Lee.
Mr. Hillin was an outstanding automobile mechanic and worked as several repair shops in Marshall and Longview. He then entered the equipment rental business where he was an outstanding mechanic on larger equipment. This led him to become the owner of Equipment Sales and Service, which he ran until his retirement. He was a member of the Little Flock Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, son, Dennis Lee; three sisters, Nadine Shofner, Norene Huffman, and Adell Holliday.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Hillin; daughter, Jean Pliler and son-in-law, Otis; grandchildren, Deanna Pliler Kalmus and husband Michael of Rowlett; and Darby Pliler of Longview; and great grandchildren, Colton and Gracyn Kalmus of Rowlett and Kamryn, Kaylyn, and Karsyn Pliler of Longview.
Funeral services for Mr. Hillin will be held Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with the Reverends Ted White and John Sullens officiating. Burial will follow in Gum Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
