Earle Elvis Little, Jr., MD's Obituary
Memorial services for Earle Elvis Little, Jr., M.D., 80, will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. with The Reverend Shanna Suarez officiating.
Dr. Little was born January 14, 1930, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Marion Evelyn Smith and Earle Elvis Little, Sr. He attended Central High School, Vanderbilt University and graduated from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1951. He earned his medical degree from University of Arkansas, Little Rock where he was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as well as Phi Beta Kappa. He served his residency in radiology at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock.
Dr. Little also served as a Major in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 at Brook Army Hospital in San Antonio and Letterman General Hospital, at the Presidio, San Francisco, California.
In 1960, Dr. Little began his 34-year practice in radiology at Good Shepherd Hospital, Longview where he served as Chief of Staff in 1965, President of the Gregg County Medical Society in 1966, and Chief of Radiology from 1965-79.
Dr. Little was an avid hunter and lover of the great outdoors, a passion he shared with his son and grandsons. His sense of humor, kindness and outstanding character were traits much loved and admired by his children, grandchildren and all who knew him.
Dr. Little is survived by his dedicated and devoted wife of 57 years, Gladys Helen May Little of Kingsland, Ark., 3 children and their spouses Mark Allison Little and wife Susan Ann of Longview, Valerie Helen Stocker and husband Charles William, III, of Ft. Worth, and Laura Yvette McLeod and husband William Bruce of Plano; 6 grandchildren, Alison Celeste and Jennifer Ann Little, Laura Elizabeth and Leah Walsh Korte, Andrew Hunter and William Earle McLeod.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 5th at Trinity Episcopal Church.
