Dymple Lester's Obituary
Our precious Dymple Lester took the hand of her Lord Jesus Christ and entered Heaven Tuesday July 13. She was 10 days shy of her 98th birthday. Dymple Hiett Lester was the 7th child born to David Edward and Willie Brazzil Hiett on July 23, 1912, in Harrison County. She married her sweetheart Homer Grady Lester on December 24, 1933. They were the proud parents of Gail Lester Tillery.
Dymple wore many hats during her life; teacher, nurse's aide, home health provider, seamstress, realtor and national award winning Mary Kay sales woman. However her most famous role was Manager of "Sales & Customer Relations and Chief Eggnog Maker" at the Tillery's business The Sassy Pan for over 20 years.
Mrs. Lester was a lifelong member of the 1st Baptist Church. She was an extraordinary Bible student and teacher, serving the Pearl Chapel Bible Study Club for 50 years. She was the original "Independent Woman", setting high standards for both herself and family. She encouraged us to never give up, never settle for less than our dreams and to always give the glory to God. She constantly, through both words and actions, pointed us toward a relationship with Jesus.
Dymple loved fishing with her sisters and brothers, spoiling us all, reading her Bible, Rangers baseball games, cooking a good meal, winning at dominoes and most of all sharing her faith in Christ. In her Bible are hundreds of pieces of paper with thoughts and scriptures that she recorded through the years. We would like to share 3:
"Give me the long arms, Lord.
Long enough to wrap around
All who come to me in need"
"God is greater than any problems that I have.
We look through our tears and they become a telescope
Into heaven, and help us to understand"
"He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose"
Mrs. Lester is survived by her daughter, Gail Tillery, Her grandchildren Lisa Tillery Shive husband Chuck, Jeff Tillery wife Delilah, Alyson Tillery Bumpass husband Tommy. Her great grandchildren, Sarah, Mary Elizabeth, Laura Shive and Casey, Hayden and Trey Bumpass. Her sister Odie Hiett Smith and her beloved nieces and nephews. You all know you were loved uniquely.
Services will be held in the Ford Chapel at First Baptist Church on Friday July 16th at 2pm with Rev. David English officiating under direction of Rader Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 pm on Thursday evening.
Special thanks to the God given ministries of Drs. Margaret Schottstaedt, Rodney Henry and Frank Jackson. They enriched her quality of life.
We strongly recommend that donations be made to Margaret's House at Beacon Hospice in honor of Mrs. Lester. www.beaconhospice.net
