Dr. Ted Rankin's Obituary
Services for Dr. Ted Rankin, 80, of Gladewater will be held on Monday, December 20, 2010 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010. Dr. Rankin passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010.
Dr. Rankin was born on November 13, 1930 to Zeno and Maude Rankin in Owensboro, Kentucky. Dr. Rankin moved to Longview in 1966 to work as a pathologist. He later formed Longview Pathology & Medical Associates with Dr. H.P. Clifton. Dr. Rankin served as a pathologist for over 35 years. He was a former board member of the Texas Medical Association and longtime member of the Gregg County Medical Association. Besides his love of medicine, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with friends. He was president of the North East Texas Writers' Organization, a member of the Rotary Club, Rankin Clan Reunion Association and the Texas Master Gardeners' Association. One of his favorite activities was the "RODEO Club" – Retired Old Doctors Eating Out.
Dr. Rankin is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Mari and Ed Woomer of Houston, Jennifer and Roger Meagher of Coppell, TX; son Ted Rankin, Jr. of Longview; grandchildren Stephanie and Kimberly Woomer, Kyle and Megan Goodwyn, Jonathan Meagher; nephew Mike Gibson and family, and niece Sandy Gibson and family both of Houston, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Phyllis Gibson.
