Richard Howard LeTourneauFuneral services for Dr. Richard H. LeTourneau, 79, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Mobberly Baptist Church with Dr. Laney L. Johnson, Reverend Scott Schulik, and Reverend Al Birkelund officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday evening, August 6, 2004 in the funeral home chapel, 1617 Judson Road. Dr. LeTourneau was born on January 3, 1925 in Stockton, California to R.G. and Evelyn LeTourneau. He ascended to be with his Lord on Tuesday evening, August 3, 2004 at his residence. Dr. LeTourneau grew up in the work and Christian ethic philosophy of his dad. A skilled machinist and toolmaker in his late teens, his dad plunged him into management in his early twenties. At 41, after his dad had a serious stroke, he was given the responsibilities of president and chief executive officer of R.G. LeTourneau, Inc. In his thirties, he took time out from the company to finish his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, and for sixteen years was instrumental, as president of LeTourneau University, in building it into a unique institution founded and operated on his dad?s philosophy of combining work, education, and sound Christian testimony. Dr. LeTourneau was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by Louise, his loving wife of 57 years; sister Louise Dick; and brothers, Roy and Ben LeTourneau; his children, Gil, Caleb, Linda, Liela, and their spouses; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.Dr. LeTourneau had requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to: Childcare International, 715 W.
