Clayton and I started college together at Northeast in Monroe and finished medical school together in New Orleans. I shall never forget the amused look on his face when I, a fresh cheeked college student would stagger in for classes after a weekend of carousing. At that time he was a two fisted guy right out of the oil fields and had seen plenty of hard knocks. He was a steady guy, a steadfast friend and a comfort when events "body slammed" me during our educational journey. May he have a restful peace. He may be gone but not long forgotten.##imported-begin##Wayne G. Elliott, M.D.##imported-end##
Dear Mitchell Family,
Your father was very kind and helpful to Dr. Rodney B. Martin and I when we were interested in setting up ENT practice here in Longview in 1975. Rodney enjoyed a long professional relationship with your father. He could always count on O.C.
Your father was always extremely proud of "his boys". I could tell he loved you very much.
Sincerely,
Virginia Martin

I send my prayers and wishes to Dr. Mitchell's family. I will always have great memories of Dr. Mitchell as our Associate Team Physican and a great friend. I was blessed by Jay and Tedd in my years at Longview ISD. Again your father was special to me and my family.##imported-begin##Jimmy Kendrick##imported-end##
To the Mitchell family - I was sorry to learn of the passing of Dr. Mitchell. The mental picture I will always have with me of Dr. Mitchell is him wearing his eye loop with the leather strap on his head. The memory I will always have of him is all of the times he treated me and my sons for sore throats, stopped-up noses, colds & even a shot to help the itch of poison ivy. I was blessed to have him as my doctor and my friend.##imported-begin##Buddy Owles##imported-end##
Jay,
I was saddened to hear of O.C.'s passing. We had shared some good times on the golf course. My condolences to you and your family.##imported-begin##Davis Noble##imported-end##
Dear Mitchell Family,
There is never a good time to say goodbye to someone we love, but there is great joy in the long and fruitful life that Dr. Mitchell lived. I know that the fond memories will comfort you as you face the changes ahead.
Dr. Mitchell was so proud of his children and grandchildren! He also took great care of thousands of patients who needed his kindness and knowledge. What a legacy!
A friend just returned from the church and, to my surprise and sadness, told me it was Dr. Mitchell's funeral. My heart goes out to you and I have said a prayer for your family.
Love, Martha##imported-begin##Martha McKinney Ylitalo##imported-end##
