Funeral services for Doyle D. Reed 86 will be Friday, March 08, 2013 At 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Longview, Texas with Bro. Richard Jones
officiating. Interment will be in Rosewood Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. Mr. Reed passed away
Wednesday, March 06, 2013 at Havencare Nursing Home in Longview, Texas.
Mr. Reed was born November 10, 1926 in Leary, Texas to Morris and Letha Reed. He was retired from Texas Eastman Kodak Company where he was a chemical operator. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as deacon for numerous
years. After the death of his wife he moved his membership to Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
He was presented by the East Texas Chapter of S.F.O.A. an honorary life membership to the Southwest Football Officials Association. He was presented this membership on August 13, 1994 in Austin, Texas. He also was presented an award for 30 years of devoted officiating by the Henderson FCA in 1980.
He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family and always enjoy the times we were all together. He had many close friends and will truly be missed by everyone that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents Morris and Letha Reed of Texarkana, Texas, his loving wife of 51 years Minnie Ellen Reed, sister Francis Bacone of Memphis, Tennessee, and a grandson Matthew Brandon Reed of Kilgore, Texas.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three sons – Elmer Reed and wife Beverly of Aledo, Texas, Terry Reed of Austin, Texas, David Reed and wife Marsha of Flint, Texas, and only daughter Becky Foster and spouse Dan of Longview, Texas. Sisters – Lela Crowson
and spouse of Nash, Texas and Marcy Harmon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Mr. Reed had 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great-grandchildren, numerous of nieces and nephews.
