Darwin was born on January 5th 1967 in Longview, Texas to Patricia Ann Holiday Gunby. He was a 1987 graduate of Gilmer High School and was involved in Ag and Auto Mechanics. Darwin worked hard beside his “Daddy” Jake Holiday, before he decided to start his own equipment business, Gunby Equipment Service. He took pride in his work and got to know and work with many wonderful people in the East Texas area over the last 30 years in business. His companies legacy will live on through his wife and son who will continue his hard work clearing and building land of many peoples dreams.
Darwin married his soul mate Vicki on June 13th 1992, and later went on to have two sons that they are incredibly proud of. After a courageous seven year battle with cancer, on December 1st 2022, our beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with his family by his side. His determination and strength was an inspiration for all to see. The kind words, thoughtfulness and devoted man he was will never go unnoticed. He was a man of many talents and trades, Darwin was an avid hunter, awesome cook and grill master, and one of a kind equipment operator. He could build almost anything with his hands and didn’t complete the job until it was to his satisfaction. Darwin never stopped dreaming and traveling to different places in our great country to admire Gods creation.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Vicki, sons Clay Gunby and his wife Brittney, Dakota Gunby and his wife Caitlin, Brothers Dwayne Brown and his wife Judy, Dwight Reynolds and his wife Gail, Brother in-law Randy Olmsted and his wife Courtney and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Darwin was proceeded in death by his Mother Pat, Grandfather Jake, Grandmother Adell Holiday and Brother in-law Hal Olmstead.
