Douglas Dale Garrett's Obituary
Services for Douglas Dale Garrett, 80, of Longview will be held at 2 PM Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Memory Park Mausoleum with Reverend Welton Jones officiating. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Garrett passed away Tuesday afternoon in Longview. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Douglas was born on October 2, 1929 in Maybank, Texas to Larkin and Beulah Garrett. He was retired from Plains Machinery and enjoyed hunting, boating, spending time with his family, and playing dominoes with his buddies. He was also retired from the Cherokee Water Company where he enjoyed working as Lake Patrol.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Sandra Garrett; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Rusty Jones of Longview, TX, Tonya and Gary Bort of White Oak, TX, Sharon Frizzell of Flint, TX, Teresa and Mike Johnson of Etoile, TX, Tammy Kirkpatrick of Longview, TX, and Terry and Billie Goodman of Longview; his son, Randy Woods of Longview; his sisters, Wilda and Jack Bayless of Houston, TX, and Shirley Gulliot of Dickinson, TX; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Beacon Hospice at Margarets House, Dr. Schottstaedt, Dr. Holton, Dr. Flory, Dr. Yu, Dr. Sharma, and nurses Debbie and Laura. The family request that memorials be made to Beacon Hospice at Margaret?s House, 5010 Gilmer Rd. Longview, Texas 75604.
