Doug Shively 's Obituary
Longview, Texas - Douglas D. Shively, 67, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 15.  He was born August 9, 1950 in Goshen, Indiana and resided the early part of his life in Leesburg, Indiana.  Doug graduated from Warsaw High School in Indiana and Ferris State University in Michigan.
Doug arrived at Missionary TECH Team in Longview on Valentine’s Day in 1973 with an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Arts from Ferris State. After 45 years of faithful service, he retired from TECH December 31, 2017. It is not often that someone commits their entire life to one organization especially a faith supported work.
Over the years he worked on thousands of graphic projects reaching around the world. He was highlighted in the Longview newspaper, and won a design competition early in his career. Many people know about the ministry of TECH because Doug developed local relationships. He was a faithful member of Fellowship Bible Church and regularly volunteered at Hiway 80 Rescue Mission. Doug loved to visit local nursing homes, rescue missions and inmates in jail. The result to champion about Doug’s service and life is that a countless number of people received Christ as their personal Savior.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Kathleen Shively, and brother, Dallas, of Leesburg.  He is survived by brother and sister in law, Dennis and Candy Shively, also of Leesburg. Visitation will be at 1:00pm on March 24, 2018 with the service following at 2:00pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Missionary TECH Team, 25 FRJ Drive, Longview, Texas 75602.
