Dorothy May Cain Thomas Henderson's Obituary
Funeral services for Dorothy May Cain Thomas Henderson, 94, of Longview will be held at 10 AM Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Alpine Presbyterian Church with Dr. Richard Hollingsworth and Rev. Charles Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Alpine Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. Henderson passed away Thursday evening at her home in Longview. Dorothy was born on March 17, 1915 in Bell County, Texas to Orloe O. and Faye Conway Cain. She attended school in the New Bethlehem Community and Indian Rock in Upshur County, after which she attended College at Texas State College for Teachers, Kilgore Junior College and East Texas Baptist College. She was married on August 21, 1932 in Greenwood, LA to John Lewis Markham Thomas. From this union they had three daughters. They were married for 50 years before his passing in 1982. She later married Wilson Fair Henderson on November 8, 1986. They enjoyed 17 years of marriage before his passing in 2003. Mrs. Henderson was highly involved in the activities of her daughters PTA, Band Booster Club, Vacation Bible School, and a Sunday school teacher. Wilson and Dorothy enjoyed the fellowship of friends and had frequent 42 parties in their home. Wilson and Dorothy were also Elders of Alpine Presbyterian Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parent; her husbands, John Thomas and Wilson Henderson; and 2 sisters, Lola Cain Cunningham and Ruth Cain Burnett.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Sylvia Ann Trussell and her husband Hollis R. of Longview, Shirley Beth Stauss and her husband Jack of Longview, and Sue Ellen Brown and her husband Raymond of Madill, OK; grandchildren and their spouses, Britt Markham Trussell, Hollie Trussell Canter and her husband Forest, Tracey Glynn Stauss and his wife Kathy, Thomas Albert Stauss and his wife Monica, Lance Wayne Brown, and Clint Wesley Brown and wife Alyssa; great-grandchildren and their spouses, Kassidy Windham and wife Stephanie, Ah-Leah Wages-Moneypenny and husband Shenon, Whitney Fantasia Stauss, William Bodhi Stauss, Britney River Stauss, Logan Cole Brown, and Angela Marie Brown; and her siblings, Orloe O. Cain, Jr. of Montrose, CO, Una Cain Andrews and husband Richie of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Ray L. Cain and wife Theoletta of Albuquerque, NM.
