Dorothy Marie Blankenship's Obituary
Dorothy Blankenship joyously met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with her beloved husband of sixty five years, Rev. Bill Blankenship on December 28, 2003. Funeral services for Mrs. Blankenship will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in White Oak, TX on Tuesday, December 30, 2003, at 2:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Raymond Tenpenny and her grandson, Rev. Steve Reynolds. Music will be provided by granddaughter, Beth Blankenship, and grandson, Greg Blankenship. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, TX. Pallbearers will be Britt Blankenship, Greg Blankenship, Randy Blankenship, Clay Bridges, Cody Bridges, Gabe Esparza, Terry Reynolds and Tom Wilcox.
Mrs. Blankenship was born in Collin County, TX and grew up in Sherman, TX. She was a long-time resident of White Oak and a member of Emmanuel Baptist church. She earned Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. Mrs. Blankenship retired after teaching school in the Lockhart, Gladewater and White Oak school districts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Bill Blankenship, a brother, Wallace Gray and her parents, E. L. and Myra Gray.
Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her children, June and David Reynolds of White Oak, Jerry and Anita Blankenship of Plano, and Mark and Judy Blankenship of Nashville, TN, and one sister, Hope Hall of Sherman, TX. She delighted in her eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Family visitation will be Monday evening, December 29, 2003, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
