Dorothy M. Williams' Obituary
Funeral services for Dorothy M. Williams, 90, of Henderson, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Rader Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Tisdale officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Henderson.
Mrs. Williams died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at ETMC-Henderson.
She was born April 18, 1920 in Crawford, Nebraska . A 1937 graduate of Crawford High School, she attended Nebraska State Teachers College and graduated in 1941 with a BS in Business Education. She served as secretary to the Registrar at NSTC for four years.
In 1942 she met Hayes Williams and married him in 1946 and moved to Texas where he was employed by Humble Oil Company. While he was employed by the Humble New London gas plant, they resided in the Humble camp until moving to Henderson in 1963.
Mrs. Williams helped organize and open a private preschool Dent?s Preschool and taught there for eight years. She taught at St. Paul?s UMC Mother?s Day Out program for three years. She loved children, music, flowers, handwork and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Claudia Holder Sunday School Class and Keenage Choir. She was also a member of the Pilot Club and Forum.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother.
Surviving are daughters; Marilyn Winfrey of Longview, and Beth Holland and husband Mike of Henderson; grandchildren, Julie Hile and husband Eric, Christa Winfrey, Karen Champion and husband Nathan, and Michelle Holland; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, and Alex Hile, and Catherine Champion; sisters-in-law, Lavona Uhl of South Dakota and Mary Brightwell of Henderson; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mario Cavazos, Mike Brightwell, Jay Van Zandt, Don Gage, Jimmy Hays and Wayne Sanders.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Lorna Hudson , Shirley Hale and to all the friends and helpers at Autumn Leaves . Thank you to Dr. Ladage for his loving care.
