Dorothy Murle Jackson's Obituary
Dorothy Murle Jackson, 95, of Longview, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, entering into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dorothy, our beloved matriarch, was born in Bogata, Texas on July 27, 1929. She dedicated her life to serving others. A beloved nurse for 38 years and, more notably, devoting 30 of those years as the primary nurse for Dr. E.B. Edmondson. Together they provided care and comfort to countless patients and families in the Longview area. Their partnership was a testament to Dorothy’s professionalism, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to others.
Dorothy’s kindness and compassion extended to her church community as well. As a charter member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church, she faithfully committed herself to the church body through selfless service and generous fellowship.
Dorothy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a loving mother to Linda Meek, a proud grandmother to Jennifer Jameson and husband Jonathan, the treasured Granny to Elise, Ben and Abel, and a doting great-great-Granny to Enzo. For her family and those who knew her, she was a model of grace and class. She was careful to listen and generous with encouragement. At home in the kitchen, Dorothy created many fond memories and recipes, like her famous chicken n’ dressing that will be passed down through generations.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Effie Lee Oliver, her husband of 34 years, Noble Ray Jackson, and her son-in-law Calvin Lewis Meek.
Dorothy’s legacy of kindness and faith will endure in the lives of her family and all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A family graveside service will be held at Memory Park Cemetery on January 31st with Brother Charles Hunt officiating. An open visitation will be held on February 1st at Woodland Hills Baptist Church Chapel from 10:30 to 12:00. All who knew her and wish to celebrate her life are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Dorothy’s name be made to Woodland Hills Baptist Church. 2105 E. Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605
