Dorothy J. "Dottie" Lane Howard
Dottie was born on February 15, 1940, in Paris, Texas to Viola Grimes Lane and Shield H. Lane. She died on November 5, 2012 at Longview Regional Medical Center. Dottie married the love of her life, Robert Howard, on October 28, 1966. Dottie also very much loved her children, Carla Worsham and Rebecca Shelly, and grandson, Josh Worsham. She also loved to travel and meet new people on her travels. She will be sorely missed by her family and many, many good friends.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Clyde G. Lane, James R. Lane, Gerald R. Lane, Shield H. Lane, Jr., Mae E. Beason, Florence Usery, Betty J. King and Douglas K. Lane.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Howard; daughter, Carla Worsham and her husband, Tony of Longview and grandson, Joshua Worsham of Tyler, TX; daughter, Rebecca Shelly of Clearwater, Florida; sisters, Mary Evanko of San Antonio and Barbara Sue Harrington and her husband Lary of Richardson. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Juliette Johnston Taylor of Atlanta, GA, Gertrude Lane of Paris, TX, Polly Lane of Euless, TX and Avon Lane of Trinidad, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview with Dan Barrow officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Park Mausoleum, Longview. Pallbearers will be Vaughan Pierson, Wayne Deakins, Andrew Jereb, Roy Finch, Brett Carre and Tim Worsham.
Dottie's family would like to take this opportunity to extend a heart felt "THANKS" to all the nurses and employees of the Heart and Vascular Unit at Longview Regional Medical Center. They would also like to say "Thank You" to Heart'sWay Hospice for their assistance in their time of need.
