Dorothy Harbour's Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy Harbour, age 95 of Longview is preceded in death by her husband Henry H. Harbour and older siblings Houghton H. Dilworth, Walter E. Dilworth & Mrs. Muriel Tillery Deam.
Dorothy moved to Longview in her early twenties after attending East Texas Teacher's College at Commerce and worked at the County Tax Assessors office. While adjusting to her recent move, she met a young and upcoming attorney, Henry H. Harbour of whom she shared 50 endearing years of marriage.
Dororthy is a tenured member of Longview's First Presbyterian Church where she has served past as a 3rd grade Sunday school teacher. Dorothy also was active in many social organizations such as the Lawyer's Wives, Longview Garden Study Club, and a travel organization out of Dallas. Traveling with Henry and close friends across oceans and exploring Europe are just some of Dorothy's favorite memories. In addition, she loved playing Duplicate Bridge competitively with friends earning a Bronze Masters Life membership.
Mrs. Dorothy Harbour is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Bart Oberthier of Longview; son and daughter-in-law Edward and Sandy Harbour of Kansas, MO; two grandsons and their wives Trent and Christa Oberthier and Chris and Tammy Oberthier both from Hallsville; great grandchildren Jacee, Tara, Colton, and Kendall Oberthier; sister Marguerite Fender.
A celebration of her life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the home of Bart and Charlotte Oberthier, 1106 Azalea Dr. in Longview on Friday, February 26, 2010. Those wishing to remember Dorothy may make contributions to Beacon Hospice, Margaret's House, in Longview in lieu of sending flowers.
