Dorothy V. "Dot" Hale's Obituary
A celebration of the life of Mrs. Dorothy V. Hale, 90, of Henderson will be held at 2pm on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Rader Funeral Home with Michael Cary of Trinity Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Dorothy V. Hale passed away June 16, 2016 while at Henderson Health and Rehab with her family by her side.
“Dot,” as she was affectionately called, was born on May 26, 1926 in Rusk County to B.H. VanSickle and Elsie Lee VanSickle, the 4th of 6 children. She was married to the love of her life, Travis Hale, for 57 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a faithful charter member of her beloved church home, Trinity Baptist Church, for 64 years. She enjoyed cooking and sharing her recipes with her friends and family.
To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was “MaMa”, a friend, spiritual leader, care giver, and play mate. She represented wisdom, strength, and joy to all those who knew her. She always knew how to bring light to any situation. Dot spent her 90 years on earth loving her family, friends, and the Lord, above all else.
In addition to her husband, Travis Hale, she was preceded in death by her parents, B.H. VanSickle & Elsie Lee VanSickle; brothers, Virgil VanSickle, Billy A. VanSickle, Reuben VanSickle; and sister, Sue Berry.
Those left to cherish her memory, son, Mark Hale and wife, Elaine; brother, Mack VanSickle; granddaughters, Kelly Hale, Kimberly Harris and husband, Travis Harris; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Lambright and husband, Rick Lambright; Allison Harris, and Mark Travis Harris; great-great grandchildren, Kyler Lambright, and Luke Lambright; and many other special family members.
Her family would like to give a special thanks to all of those at Henderson Health and Rehab and Grace Hospice for their love, devotion, and care over the past few years.
Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Harris, Mark Travis Harris, Rick Lambright, Rodney VanSickle, Andy VanSickle, Brent VanSickle, Joel Hale, Ken Hale, Joe Cabell Hale, Bill Hale, Billy Hale, Vaughn Berry, and Mack Bassett.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 1100 Kilgore Drive, Henderson, TX 75652.
