To the Johnson Family:

Several months have now passed; however, I want to tell you again how much of an impact Mrs. Johnson had on her students. I was in Mrs. Johnson's second VOE Class - 1971-72. We went to competition in Dallas and placed. Mrs. Johnson demanded perfection - at that time I did not fully understand why; however, over the last 30 years I KNOW WHY! She loved her family and talked about them often in class. We felt as though we knew each of you personally. Mr. Johnson and family,
You have our sincere condolences on the loss of Mrs. Johnson. We went through about 2 weeks on not reading the paper, busy with schedules, my new job at PT 7th grade, and 3 teenagers. We would have been there if we would have known. I had Mrs. Johnson in 1974 for VOE and OEA. She was our Mother at School. She told us if our dresses were too short and they were. She reminded us to be ladies which we needed and she taught us much more than typing and how to answer the phone. Connie: since you were our age, she compared us to you. We didn't like you until we met you one night at your house--an OEA meeting. We wrote a office skit, which won district and took us to state in Austin. We really got to know her and appreciate her. Mr. Johnson, she talked about "Roger" a lot too. In fact, someone wrote in my year book on our VOE page, "Oh Roger Darling". We loved you too and didn't even know you. I am sorry this took so long and I wish I would have visited her, but she is in a far better place than we are now. God Bless You and Your Family.

Kim and family - So sorry to hear the news. My mother passed away in 1996, and while time doesn't make the pain go away, it does help you get accustomed to it. Your mom leaves behind a great legacy, to her community, her church and her family. God bless.

Dear Papaw,
I wrote this whenever I returned back home, and I wanted to share it with you.

It's a long way home Lord, please stop along the way.
Let her smell the roses, even pick one for God's bouquet.
Talk with her Lord; tell her the things we failed to say.
Let her know we remember her warm smile and loving kiss;
These are just some of the things we are going to miss.

Tell her "thank you," something we should have said,
For the loving hands that prepared the food we were fed,
And for the quilts, still keeping us warm in our bed.
Tell her what's in our hearts; it's too late for us to say.
We must accept it Lord, she?s really gone away.
Give us your guidance, that we may join her one day.

Kim and family, Mom sent me an e-mail a couple days ago. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope all is going ok at this time and I want you all to know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow. I remember her in the vocational building at the high school and she was constantly getting on to me and my friend Reida. Thank God for her concern and her guidance. It has served me well through the years. And thank your mother.

Dear Johnson Family-

I am a 1991 graduate of Pine Tree High School and like alot of others, Mrs. Johnson was my teacher. What a blessing she was to the VOE students. I have made my living for so long with what she taught me and how grateful I am to say I had her for a teacher. She made such a impact on some many lives over the years. Mrs. Johnson will be truely missed.
