Dorothy H. Dillard's Obituary
Dorothy H. "Dot" Dillard
Dot was born May 2, 1932 in Nashville, TN to Winston and Louise Haynes. Dot met Walter Lee Dillard on a blind date in October of 1953. It was love at first sight. They married on January 1, 1954 and were married for almost 57 years. Walt passed away on November 22, 2010.
The Dillards started their family in Lebanon, TN with daughters Beth and Amy. Walt's work with the pipeline took them on an adventurous, vagabond lifestyle following the pipeline across the Central United States. Dot always managed to create a loving home wherever they landed.
Dot was an avid music lover. She played piano, guitar and loved to sing. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she served on various committees and sang in the choir. She was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan and followed them through thick and thin, keeping up with their wins and losses each year.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her brother, Kenneth Haynes.
Dot is survived by her loving family; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Michael Chrismer and Amy and Marshall Rittermeyer; grandchildren, Chaska Norwood, Andy Norwood, Cody Rittermeyer, Devin Chrismer Besancenez and Tayler Chrismer Torrez.
After a valiant fight with cancer, Dot passed away on April 14, at her home. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and friend, grandmother and mother-in law. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Longview. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Park Mausoleum under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3470 Gilmer Rd., Longview, TX 75604 or to Beacon Hospice, 5016 Gilmer Rd., Longview, TX 75604.
