Dorothy (Dot) Petersen Partee's Obituary
Dorothy "Dot" Lee Petersen Partee, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, at the age of 87, surrounded by loved ones. Dot was born on January 13, 1936, in Turnertown, TX to her loving parents Horace Irby and Mattie Thomas Irby.
Throughout her life, Dot's remarkable sense of compassion and dedication touched the lives of those around her. With an infectious smile and nurturing spirit, Dot brought joy and warmth to everyone she encountered. Her commitment to her family, community, and profession was unwavering. Dot married John Petersen in 1959 and they spent over 40 years together until his passing in 2000. This blessed union brought two children: son Chris and daughter Lori. After John’s passing, she found love again a few years later. She married Lynn Partee, and with this marriage she gained 3 new stepchildren and numerous more grandchildren.
Dot's diligent work ethic and exceptional organizational skills made her an invaluable asset to Pine Tree Independent School District, where she dedicated herself to fostering a positive learning environment for 25 years.
Outside of her professional achievements, Dot found joy in the role of motherhood. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and the source of endless pride and joy. Their bond was unbreakable, and the memories they created together will forever be cherished.
Dot's earthly journey may have come to an end, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her brother, Ronny Irby and wife Kaye, son, Chris Petersen and his wife Lynn Ellen, granddaughter Kortenay Shaw and her husband Bobby, grandson John Christian Petersen and his wife Shazana and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepchildren and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Petersen, her second husband Lynn Partee, her daughter Lori Petersen McConaughey, her brother John Irby, and sister Pat Anderson.
As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, please join us for visitation on December 2, 2023, at 9:00 am in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Longview. A service will follow at 10:00 am, where we will honor her memory and share stories that illuminate her vibrant spirit.
Dot's legacy will forever remind us to approach life with compassion, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to our loved ones. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit, warmth, and love will forever shine in our hearts. As much as we will miss her, we know she is now with her heavenly Father and we all have the opportunity to receive Jesus as our Savior and Lord as Dot did at the age of 8 years old.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Dot's honor to Operations Smile at https://www.operationsmile.org/ or a charity of your choice.
