Dorothy Ann Williams' Obituary
A celebration of the life of Dorothy "Ann" Williams, 71, of Longview, will be 10 AM Thursday, March 6, 2008 in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Reverend David English officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Pine Forest Cemetery near Winnsboro, TX.
Ann was born February 26, 1937 in Winnsboro, TX to Robert Lee Alvis and Mildred Magdalene Stevens Alvis. Ann was educated in California and Texas
schools as a child. She received her Associate degree from Kilgore College.
After her retirement from Sears in 1986, she stayed active with her family and grandchildren and volunteering for various organizations. Ann most recently had been a Food Demonstrator at various WalMart locations. She was a member of First Baptist Church-Longview and especially enjoyed her Precept
Bible Study Class.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John C. Alvis and Effie Alvis, who raised her; her parents, and two brothers and two sisters. Her husband, Jimmy Bryan Williams, preceded her in death in April 1980.
She is survived by her sons, Jay Bryan Williams and wife, Carol; Kevin Glenn Williams and wife, Lisa, all of Longview; grandchildren, Marc, Lyndsey, Alex, Blake and Colin Williams of Longview; brother, Jerry Glenn Alvis and wife, Viola of Troup, TX and many special nieces and nephews.
She will also be missed by a host of faithful friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Roger Kiser, Texas Home Health Hospice and the nurses of GSMC 4th floor for their love and attention in the last few weeks.
They are also filled with gratitude for the special nurses, aides, and administrators of Summer Meadows Nursing Home who have diligently cared for Ann for the past one and a half years. The family appreciates all the visits and care shown them by
her church family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday evening from 5 – 7 PM.
