Doris King Shandy - I was so fortunate to have known her, and to affectionately call her my GODMOTHER.
Doris and my mother, the late Mary Louise Carter Williams, became friends in the early 1950's at the age of 22; while residing at the Southern Terrace Apartments in "Sunny" South Dallas, Texas; before I was born. As Doris' friendship between she and my parents grew, she babysat me often and as I grew older; I often referred to her as my GODMOTHER.
Doris moved to California in 1964. My father loved traveling to California and our first family vacation to visit Doris, and her husband; known affectionately as BUTCH, was in the summer of 1965 to see their beautiful Palo Alto, CA home. Doris showed us many tourist sites in the Bay Area with most memorable being the Bay Cruz to Alcatraz Island; very cold that day and the San Francisco Bay waters were very choppy that day, but the visit was awesome!
Doris was an amazing "Chef" and loved to entertain. I had the pleasure of meeting one of her brothers, BOB in 1965, along with his wife, Charity, son; Bobby, and daughter, Hope.
It was a pleasure to have known Doris King Shandy for as long as I did, and thank God for having her in my life. I miss our phone and texting conversations. Goodbye sweet Lady!
