Doris and Sam were close friends of my parents, so I was blessed to be around Miss Doris for much of my childhood. I have many wonderful memories of her. Her love of reading, her compassion, her sense of humor, and her quiet strength made a great impression on me. She was a blessing to me and my family. It's been said that grief is the price we pay for love, so I know her family is grieving deeply because they loved her deeply. On behalf of my parents and entire family, I want to express our heartfelt condolences to her family.

Doris was my "across the hall" neighbor for many years at Pine Tree High School. I taught English while she taught Spanish, so we had many of the same students. I have many happy memories of our visiting while we stood at our doors between classes and while we were eating lunch together. She was such a lovely lady whose quiet Christian influence extended to her students and colleagues alike. I feel blessed to have known her. You have my deepest sympathy in her loss.
