Dora A. Waggoner's Obituary
A celebration of Life for Dora A. Waggoner, 95, of Longview will be held 2 PM Saturday, March 5, 2005 in the Ford Chapel at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dewayne Beaty officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Park Cemetery. Ms. Waggoner went to meet her Lord on Thursday morning. Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Family visitation will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Ms.Waggoner was born February 25, 1910 in Bryceland, LA. to Lee and Emmie Adams. She was married to Troy Waggoner and they had five children. Ms. Waggoner joined the First Baptist Church in Longview shortly after moving to Longview in 1934. She loved her church family and enjoyed all the many activities in which she was involved. She loved to travel with the BXYZ on all their wonderful trips. She enjoyed trips to Hawaii, having traveled there 7 times, and loved the annual Gulf Shores trip with her church. She also served in the Good Shepherd Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary since 1971. The countless hours that she put in at the hospital helping people filled her heart and life with joy. She was also a member of the Hydrangea Garden Club. Her activities were a continual source of happiness, and those that knew her would characterize her as having never met a stranger.
Ms. Waggoner was preceded in death by her husband, Troy W. Waggoner, SR.; son Troy W. Waggoner, JR.; and Grandson Scott Andrew Waggoner.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and James Gammon of Jacksboro, TX; daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and Jim Flanagan of Longview; sons Robert Waggoner of Plano, and Rodney Waggoner and his wife Linda, of Dallas; brother Roy Adams of Bossier City; and brother-in-law Ed Maness of Doyline, LA.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
