Donald "Don" Rinehart's Obituary
Don Rinehart gave up his long fight with Alzheimer’s on Friday, September 5, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. There will be a visitation with family and friends on Sunday from 5-7pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, TX. Graveside Services for Don will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 beginning at 10 am at Chalk Hill Cemetery in Chalk Hill, TX.
Don was born in Zanesville, OH on Nov. 15, 1927 to parents Nathaniel and Sarah Jane Rinehart. In 1946 Mr. Rinehart served his country by joining the Army Air Corps. Don married the love of his life, Peggy Cunion, and they raised two daughters, Vicki and Carol. Mr. Rinehart took great pride in his membership to the Ralph Rickly Masonic Lodge in Columbus, OH. He retired in the early 90s as a warehouseman from Fiesta Salons in Columbus, OH to move to East Texas. During his life he had a passion for cars and trucks, and growing roses which he loved to do with Peggy.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Rinehart; parents, Nathaniel and Sarah Jane Rinehart; brothers, T Allen and Moody Rinehart; sisters, Mable Baughman and Nellie Thompson.
Those left to cherish the memories of Don include daughters, Vicki Thacker and Carol Mattson; grandchildren, Valeri Malone and husband Matt, Doug Thacker and wife Terri, Don and wife Jenny, David and Jessie King; great-grandchildren, Travis and Claire Malone, Skylar and Riley Thacker, Donnie, Alex, Ashley and Dylan King; brother-in-law, Ronnie Cunion and wife Claire; cousin, Phyllis Fenwick and husband Bill; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation will be appreciated.
