Donald McKinnon
Memorial Services for Donald McKinnon, 77, of Longview, will be held at 10 AM Monday, December 9, 2002 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, 1617 Judson Road  He will later be taken back to his birth place in Scotland where scattering committal services will be held.
Mr. McKinnon was born on September 3, 1925 in Perth, Scotland to John and Jessica McKinnon.  He passed away on Friday, December 6, 2002 at his residence.
He moved to Canada in the early 50?s where he began Cattle Ranching.  He moved to Pennsylvania in 1959, to Colorado in 1960, and to Texas in 1967 where he managed cattle ranches.  He had managed several ranches in Colorado and eventually became interested in thoroughbred horses.  He owned and raced his own horse, "Quiet Man".  Mr. McKinnon worked for Billy Griffith at Locmere Farms, and E.C. Johnston at Rafter J. Ranch in Hallsville.  He served in the British Royal Army during World War II.  He was in Burma and India where he was awarded 3 medals which he gave to his grandson Derek.
Mr. McKinnon was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Esther McKinnon of Longview, daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dean Beccue of McKinney, Texas, grandchildren, Derek Beccue and Lauren Beccue, both of McKinney, sisters, Elsie Taylor, Evelyn Murray, Helen Evans, Kath Gilpin, and several nieces and nephews.
