Memorial services for Donald Lee Dennis, 81, of Longview will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of Longview, 301 N. Center with the Revered Jonathan Jehorek officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Dennis was born on January 1, 1928 in Sherman. He passed away on October 26, 2009 in a Longview hospital. He graduated from Longview High School in 1945 and joined the Merchant Marines with whom he served 4 years. He worked for SWEPCO for 20 years before retiring and becoming a builder. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Longview. Mr. Dennis had many things he enjoyed in life, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and especially spending time with his girls and grandsons. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Rena Dennis. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, LaVerne Dennis; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Steve Hudson and DaLee and Eddy Trevino; grandsons, Adam and Davis Barr and Taylor Trevino.
