Donald Gene Rawlings
Full Military Graveside services for Donald Gene Rawlings, 76, of White Oak will be held at 11 AM Thursday June 7, 2007 at the Old White Oak Cemetery with Reverend Bill Voss officiating. Burial will follow in Old White Oak Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mr. Rawlings passed away Saturday June 2, 2007 at his home with his family by his side.
Don was born August 15, 1930 in Tuttle, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his Father, Dewey Rawlings; his mother and step-father Inez and Bill Callahan; three brothers, Cecil, Bill and John and one sister, Lola.
After graduating from Tuttle High School, Don joined the United States Air Force where he served willingly and honorably for 20 years. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1969. Don started another career with H&R Block Income Tax Service as District Manager. He retired from the company after 30 years of service.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to many. Before ill health, he enjoyed golf, baseball, camping, traveling, crossword puzzles and reading.
He also enjoyed meeting with friends at the Circle W Café.
Don is survived by his Sandy of 46 years. Two daughters, Dana Mizell and Kelly Brown, sons-in-law, Daniel Mizell and Billy Brown of White Oak. Four grandchildren, Christopher Mizell of Concord, North Carolina, Claire Mizell, Colton Brown and Katie Brown of White Oak, Brother and wife, George and Joan Rawlings of San Antonio, Brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Gloria Dalius, Hummels Wharf, Pennsylvania; Ken and Judy Hartley of White Oak, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
The family wishes to especially thank the Doctors, Nurses and Caregivers at Good Shepherd Hospital and Heart?s Way Hospice, and all the friends and neighbors who came to our side during this difficult time.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
The family expresses in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Heart?s Way Hospice 1300 Pine Tree Road, Longview, Texas 75604
Visitation with the family will be from 6pm until 8 pm on Wednesday May 6, 2007 at Rader Funeral Home 1617 Judson Road Longview.
