Don Mac Gregory's Obituary
Don Mac Gregory was born on January 20, 1933 in Overton, TX to W.A. and Mary Frances Gregory. He passed away on Sunday afternoon in Longview. He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 siblings, and a grandson, Daniel Paul Seay. Don attended Leverett’s Chapel School all 12 years where he participated in all sports and made many lifelong friendships, most importantly the love of his life, Margie Ella Williams. He attended Kilgore Junior College and Southern State College in Magnolia, AR on a full athletic scholarship in football and also played basketball. He graduated from Kilgore Jr. College and from Southern State College with a B.S. degree in Petroleum Geology. He married Margie on November 28, 1953, and they were blessed with 72 very happy years together. Don and Margie lived mostly in Daingerfield, where he was a plant manager and coke plant superintendent at Lone Star Steel. He worked at LSS from 1956 without ever taking a single day of sick leave for over 20 years. He retired from LSS, and was hired in 1986 to work as plant manager at Tarrant Coke Plant of ABC Coke in Birmingham, AL for another 10 years. After his retirement from ABC, they moved to Longview, TX where he served as a Deacon in Mobberly Church, after having served as a Deacon in several churches since 1960. Don loved working hard, but it always came 3rd place behind his love for the Lord and for his family. He always treated Margie with honor and total adoration. He could fix anything around the house – even building a house on the lake for Margie. He taught his children constantly, from riding bikes, to hunting and fishing, to swimming and water skiing, and how to make life in general a great adventure. He was a flawless example of integrity to all who knew him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margie, his children and their spouses, Paul and Susie Gregory, Julia Gregory Seay and her husband Paul, Mark and Jeannie Gregory; grandchildren, Kyle Gregory and his wife Philo, Carol and Kristen Seay, Markus and Scotty Gregory, and three great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews all across the U.S. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Rosewood Park. Seating will be limited so feel free to bring a lawn chair if needed.
