Dinah Franks Langley
Dinah Franks Langley, better known as “Grand D”, was born July 28, 1948, and passed away March 8, 2016, after a lengthy battle with MRSA. She was born in Marshall, TX and graduated from Marshall High School in 1966. It was in 1961 that Dinah met the love of her life, Carlisle Langley, who she married July 6, 1966. They settled in their first home in Hallsville, TX where they still reside.
Dinah worked at Piggly Wiggly as a checker, First National Bank, Longview and First State Bank, Hallsville. She worked at Hallsville Drug for 28 years, until she had complications from arthritis. Then she drove a school bus for Hallsville Independent School District for 10 years.
Dinah had many passions, her biggest was Relay for Life after losing a grandson to cancer. She belonged to Sigma Phi Sorority and Secret Sister. She was well known for baking and gardening. Dinah’s back yard held many gatherings for friends and family. Dinah was always positive and had an infectious smile.
Dinah was preceded in death by both her parents, Wayne and Marie Franks; and one grandson, Colton Carlisle Langley; and her sister, Belle Franks.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Carlisle Langley; one son and his wife, Leslie and Julie Langley; 2 grandchildren, Caleb Langley and Amber Campbell; one aunt, Peggy Stroh of Jefferson. Dinah also leaves behind a host of special friends and her 2 dogs, Leah and Digger.
Funeral services will be held at the Hallsville Church of Christ, Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Todd McKee, Matt Benson, Ray Henry Benson, Mike Buchannan, Jeff Long and Brian Bell and honorary pallbearer, Bill McDonald.
