Mrs. Dianne Wilson Malone's Obituary
Dianne Wilson Malone passed from this earth on March 23, 2014, in Longview, Texas, after a lengthy illness.
Rubye Dianne Wilson was born November 22, 1943, in Longview, Texas, to Ollie D. Wilson and Rubye Hickey Wilson. She graduated from Longview High School in 1962 and then attended the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.
Dianne married Dan Malone on August 27, 1966, in Longview. In 1969, Dianne gave birth to a daughter, Misty, while living in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 1975, Dianne gave birth to a son, Rodney, while living in Greenville, Texas. The family moved back to Longview in 1979, where they have remained since.
Dianne worked as the Secretary/Treasurer for Tannenbaum, Inc., a ladies ready-to-wear retail store in Greenville, Texas, for 10 years. More recently, Dianne was the Secretary/Treasurer for O-Tex Oil & Gas, Inc., Malone Properties, and also worked as the Receiving and Billing Manager for Martins’, a ladies retail store in downtown Longview.
Dianne was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also an excellent cook and homemaker. She was a very independent woman who had an undeniable talent in creative design, as well as being an expert in sewing and alteration of clothing.
True to form, Dianne battled cancer with her well known determination and persistence for more than two years from her original diagnosis, enduring two surgeries along the way.
Dianne was preceded in death by the following immediate family members: her parents, Ollie D. & Rubye Hickey Wilson; her grandparents, Alpha & Martha LaGrone Hickey and Thomas J. & Minnie Wilson; uncles Barney Hickey, Ellis Hickey, Weldon Hickey, Ras Hickey, Wilbur Hickey, Dewitt Hickey,
and Neltie Hickey; aunt, Truda Belle Hickey; uncle, Archie Wilson and aunt, Eva Wilson Eaker; and her beloved black Labrador retriever, Dixie.
Left to cherish Dianne’s memory are her husband of 47 years, Dan Malone of Longview; a daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Gary Porter of New Braunfels, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Latricia Malone of Longview; granddaughters Zoe Porter of New Braunfels, TX, and Landri Malone of Longview; Labrador retrievers, Daisy and Duke; an uncle, Byron Hickey of Hallsville, TX; cousin Eleanor Abney and husband, Toby, of Longview; special cousin, Tommy Eaker and wife, Priscilla, of Longview; cousins Marilyn Hickey McClain and husband, Robert, of Hallsville and Nancy Hickey Malone, of Spring, TX; cousin Kay Hickey Metz and husband, Charles, of Waco, TX; cousin Dewitt Hickey, Jr., and wife, Betty, of Waskom, TX; cousins Beverly Fontenot and husband, Lee, of Maurice, LA, Tiajuana Gough and husband, Greg, of Springdale, AR, and Kelly Patterson of Waskom, TX; and numerous other family members in and around East Texas.
The family wants to say a special “Thank You” to the staff and doctors at the Longview Cancer Center/Texas Oncology, specifically Dr. Frase, Dr. Taylor, and Dr. Couch and their staffs. Also, a special “Thank You” goes to Linda McCarty, Dr. Thomas Chow and his staff, Dr. Rama Nayini and her staff, Texas Home Health, Joe Anders with A.K. Fitness Therapy, HeartsWay Hospice of NorthEast Texas, and the nurses and staff at Highland Pines Nursing Home.
Visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 26th, from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 27th at 10am, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Handling the service of remembrance and celebration of Dianne’s life are Pastor Richard Jones of Calvary Baptist Church and Dr. Gene Petty.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Walker, John Nichols, Dr. William Reagan, John Blake, Norman White, Jerry Russell, Mark Friend, and John Garrett. Honorary pallbearers are Earl Harkins and Allen Andrews.
