Dianne Thomas Glaze's Obituary
Dianne Thomas Glaze was born in Longview into the Household of her late parents Lucille and Isaac Thomas, and her two sisters Jeanette Abraham and the late Marlene Haraka. She attended First Ward Elementary School where she was a cheerleader and school queen.
Dianne was in the first graduating class from Forest Park Middle School and was voted first class president and Eagles Football Sweetheart. She was active in the student and in the choir.
During her years at Longview High School, she was a representative of the student council, FHA Song leader, member of Anchor Club, Girls Choir, Teen Time Radio KFRD, nominated football sweetheart, represented Longview and Alto Texas in the Christmas Parade, and was a senior duchess in the Queen’s Coronation.
In her freshman year at North Texas State University, she was voted Freshman Senator. The following summer she was selected first runner up in The Miss Longview Pageant; and the Longview Jaycees selected her to be their representative for Labor Day Traffic “Safe Steps”
Also during college, she was voted into “Angel Flight”, a female organization the marched with and supported the men’s ROTC program as a Second Lieutenant. Her Sorority was Alpha Delta Pi, where she served as member-at-large, and was active in the music program.
Mrs. Glaze graduated with a B.S. degree in elementary education, and taught at Bramlette School for ten years and is listed in “Who’s Who among Texas Teachers.”
In 1972 she married her beloved Dr. Kenneth Glaze, her high school sweetheart. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University from the College of Veterinary Medicine. They have a much loved son, Lane Glaze and daughter-in-law Aaron Glaze. Her grandchildren are twins, Cash and Kinley Glaze.
In past years Dianne was a Boy Scout Den Mother, Green Wing Sponsor, Corner Society Washer, Holiday Salvation Army, Humane Society, Community Theatre, LHS Booster Club Sponsor for Baseball, Mother League, Bible School Teacher, Church Camp Worker, Dutch’s Unlimited, Junior League of Longview, and History Club of East Texas.
Brother and sisters-in-laws Jean Glaze of the late Dr. Bob Glaze, C.R. and Vivian Gordon, the late Charles Abraham, and George Haraka. Other relatives include twelve nieces, nephews and numerous cousins and aunts, a sister Jeanette Abraham of MS.
Dianne gave and received much love during her life time and will be missed. She was a life time member of the First Christian Church, 720 North 6th St, Longview Texas, 75601. Church contributions would be appreciated or the charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 25 at the First Christian Church. The family will be gathering at Rader Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9-10:30 for a time of visitation.
