Diane Duncan Obituary
Diane Duncan (née Prichard), aged 85, passed away on June 27, 2024, in Longview, Texas. Born on February 12, 1939, in Canyon, Texas, Diane was the daughter of Artist Hudson Prichard, Sr. and Lois Woodfin Prichard. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Don Duncan, her parents, and her brother, Artist Hudson Prichard, Jr.
Diane graduated as valedictorian from Canyon High School in 1956 and attended West Texas State University, where she studied accounting. She began her career as a school secretary in Canyon, and later worked as a secretary at the Big Spring army base. As her children grew, she dedicated herself to being a homemaker and also sewed for the public. Later, Diane worked at McCarley's Jewelers in Longview, handling their bookkeeping until her retirement.
A devout member of Pine Tree Church of Christ for over 51 years, Diane's faith and her family were the cornerstones of her life. Her commitment to her church was profound, and she participated actively throughout her life.
Diane was known for her sharp intellect and competitive spirit, especially evident in her achievement as a Bridge Life Master. She was also a member of the Longview stamp collector's club and enjoyed coin collecting, crafting, sewing, working jigsaw puzzles, and playing games. Her hobbies reflected her meticulous and perfectionistic nature. Diane along with her mother, Lois Woodfin Prichard, was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Diane is survived by her children: Renee Hawkins and her husband Mike, Traci Cowan and her husband Shayne, Michelle Parry and her husband Brad, and Corey Duncan and his wife Shevin. She adored her grandchildren: Austin Bogert, Annie Hawkins, Kayli Hemphill and her husband Blake, Kelsi Cowan, Jillian Parry, Jake Duncan, and Jamie Duncan. Diane also delighted in her great-grandchildren: Tyler Carr, Witten Hemphill, Adelyn Hemphill, and Emalyn Hemphill.
A Memorial Service will be held on July 8, 2024, at Pine Tree Church of Christ, 3221 Dundee Rd., Longview, TX 75604. Visitation begins at 10:30 am, followed by the service at 11:00 am, officiated by Pine Tree's Lead Minister, Jody Garner. Contributions in memory of Diane can be made to Pine Tree Church of Christ.
