Dewey James “Jim” Opiela
Funeral services for Dewey James “Jim” Opiela, 81, of Longview will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2014, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. He passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 in a Longview hospital.
Mr. Opiela was born November 25, 1932 in San Antonio, TX to David and Mary Opiela. He was a retired engineer for Zachary Construction. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Mr. Opiela was a member of Classic Care at Good Shepherd Medical Center and Senior Circle at Longview Regional Medical Center. He enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, hunting and watching sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Bernice M. Kotara Opiela.
Those left to cherish his memory are his Children, Sharlene King and husband Wade, Dennis Opiela and wife Debi, Roger Opiela and wife Liz, and Pam Wilson and husband Ronnie; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brother, Johnny Opiela and numerous nieces and nephews.
