Dewey Leon Greer Jr.'s Obituary
Funeral services for Dewey L. Greer, Jr. will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Sovereign Life Fellowship located at 3001 West Hawkins Parkway in Longview, Texas. The family will receive visitors prior to the the service from 9:30 am - 10:30 am Saturday morning. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview, Texas.
Dewey went to be with the Lord the morning of January 30, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born in Longview, Texas on November 4, 1950 to Mozell and Dewey L. Greer, Sr. Dewey retired from Eastman Chemical Company after 30 years, and began a second career in higher education at Kilgore College teaching Process Technology for over ten years. Dewey grew up attending church at First Baptist Church - Hallsville and more recently attended Sovereign Life Fellowship when his health permitted. He enjoyed fishing and vacationing in Destin, Florida.
Dewey had a true servant’s heart and was an inspiration to all who met him. He never met a stranger and always had a story to entertain people. He loved to joke and kid around with his children and grandchildren and truly cherished spending time with them.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish their memories of Dewey include his wife of 50 years Sandy Greer; daughters Jennifer Wood and husband Lucas and Jill McKinley and husband Patrick; brother James Greer and wife Carol; nieces Jodie Hilburn and husband Hunter, Gay Peace and husband Scott; nephews Gregg Greer and wife Jan; Tracy Randall, and Corey Randall; grandchildren Daniel Wood, Leah Wood, Kye McKinley, Harrison Hilburn, Hamilton Hilburn and Allie Hilburn. Dewey will also be remembered by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, students, and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heartsway Hospice or talk to a family member about donating to the Dewey Greer Memorial Scholarship currently being established.
